Why fantasy names are built from syllables, not a curated list#

A curated list of "fantasy names" runs out fast and tends to lean on names already used in existing games or books. This tool instead combines a set of prefix and suffix syllables at random, producing names that sound plausible without being drawn from — or colliding with — any specific existing character list.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real names of real people?

The "regular" style combines common first and last names from public name-frequency data — the specific combination is random and not meant to represent any real person. Fantasy names are invented syllable combinations that do not appear in any real name list.

Can I generate more than 50 at once?

Not in a single batch — generate again to get a fresh batch if you need more.

Is anything sent anywhere?

No. Names are generated entirely in your browser.
